Workplace English for Esthetics Professionals — Diploma Program

Build the language skills you need to communicate confidently with clients, teammates, and employers in the beauty industry. This practical program focuses on real salon/spa scenarios and career vocabulary so you can thrive on the job from day one.

What you’ll learn

  • Client communication: greetings, inquiries, recommending services/products, handling payments, leave-taking, and professional follow-up.
  • Service language for esthetics: skin & hair care terminology, treatment types, anatomy basics, massage & relaxation concepts, consultation language, and aftercare.
  • Wellness vocabulary: nutrition, meal planning, weight management, and lifestyle factors.
  • Industry context: technology used in skin care plus language for retail, promotions, and building long-term client relationships.

Program recognition

CMA College is Accredited. This program has been reviewed and approved by the Province of British Columbia (PTIRU).

Pathways

After completing Workplace English for Esthetics Professionals, students may choose to continue with a beauty certification such as:

  • Esthetics Diploma
  • Nail Technician Diploma
  • Makeup Artistry (MUA) Diploma
  • Hairstylist Diploma

Students may also continue with English for Academic Purposes to pursue degree or postgraduate co-op programs at a college or university.

There are 4 course levels from Elementary to Advanced.

Each course level is 100 hours delivered over five weeks.

Students can enroll in two of the four courses. Please contact us to discuss options.

Classes are 20 hours per week. Lessons are online.

An official CMA College Certificate and transcript is awarded on completion.

Program Learning Outcomes

  • Communicate competently at a level required for employment or post-secondary education, showing flexibility and clarity of thought and expression.
  • Communicate competently and flexibly, interacting in culturally appropriate ways across workplace, post-secondary, and societal environments.
  • Conduct research and write essays, papers, and reports according to academic conventions at a level required by colleges, universities, and/or the workplace.
  • Develop thorough general knowledge across a wide range of subjects, gaining insight into both self and society.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and clarity of thought and expression to meet communication standards required by business and industry.
  • Understand and utilize critical-thinking processes and problem-solving techniques.
  • Examine and evaluate aspects of our changing society to develop personal and social responsibility as a citizen.
  • Employ basic vocational skills drawn from the humanities, social and behavioural sciences, or vocational studies (e.g., business, technology).

Certifications

  • College Certificate: A certificate is awarded upon successful completion of any one course level.
  • College Diploma: A diploma is awarded upon successful completion of two or more consecutive course levels, including the Advanced level.
